Cross Talk - PhD Positions available Health-promoting Cross Talk between intestinal Microbiota and Humans

Ezt a mai bejegyzést egy ösztöndíj programnak ajánlom!

Cross Talk is a training network project sponsored by the European Commission under the 7th Framework “People” Program. It gathers academic and private partners from 9 different countries into an early-stage training network.

Context & Environment

The Cross Talk project is a Marie Curie Initial Training Network, that brings together 8 academic participants, 2 industrial partners and 3 associated partners. Their association promotes complementarities of expertise in several scientific research fields, supporting an early-stage training program.

Cross Talk has the overall objective to achieve major breakthroughs in the understanding of the mechanisms underlying the dialogue between the intestinal microbiota and hosts. To reach this aim,

Cross Talk will:

·         Decipher the molecular mechanisms involved in the microbiota-host recognition

·         Reveal how the bacterial signals are integrated by the different players of the mucosal immune system

·         Validate the cross-talk mechanisms identified in the previously described steps in vivo. The expected outputs are new knowledge and applications for the food and drugs industry.

Cross Talk aims to rise a new generation of young scientists, well trained to sustain the emergence of metagenomics, a new supra-discipline calling for competencies in microbiology, cell biology, immunology, human physiology, high throughput technologies and bioinformatics. In this respect, Cross Talk will provide individual training through research projects and organize network meetings, spring schools and workshops.

13 PhD positions are available for early-stage researchers, i.e. researchers in the first 4 years after the achievement of the Master of Science degree. Researchers are strongly encouraged to undertake trans-national mobility when taking up their appointment. They must be nationals of a Member State, Associated country or third country other than the country of the host organization where they will carry out their project. Researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the host for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to their recruitment.

Contract & Salary

PhDs will be hired for a 36 month contract in accordance with their national host legislation. The salary will be about 1800€/month, with some differences depending on the country.

Application & further information

Applications should be made on the Cross Talk website ( under the recruitment section. More information can be found concerning the applicants’ eligibility rules, as well as details about the research projects.
